This is the 19th annual Kirkbymoorside 10k and it is a big day for our town. The race is based right in the centre of Kirkbymoorside, starting and finishing in the same location. The finish is a wonderful downhill stretch along the High Street and spectators line the street and encourage finishers all the way to the end. Even if this is your first 10k, you will feel an enormous sense of achievement as you come down the hill!
The event is staged annually to raise money for the charity PTA groups of local schools Kirkbymoorisde CP School (Reg. charity 1050071) and Gillamoor C of E School. It is their biggest fundraising event of the year and the money raised is used to enrich and enhance the educational experience of the children in our local area.
We are open to runners of all abilities. The race does attract club runners for Yorkshire and further afield too. There is, therefore, a competitive element amongst club runners who find this quite a challenging road race but also plenty of people who come to enjoy the day and perhaps try and achieve a PB (personal best). With children's races on offer too, stalls on the streets, shops and cafes open, it is a great day out for all the family.
The race start time is 2 pm.
- Race numbers and timing chips will NOT be posted out in advance and these must be collected on the day of the race no later than 1:30 pm from the Memorial Hall in the town centre. This registration area will be clearly marked.
- UKA rules now dictate that licensed road races competitors must not wear headphones of any kind. As a licensed race, we must follow these rules and as such anyone seen wearing them in advance of the race start will be asked to remove them. Anyone found using them during the race will be disqualified.
