What is Triathlon?
Triathlon is a multi-discipline event where people compete against the clock and each other. Swimming, cycling and running with no break except for the transition (this is a quick pit stop to change for the next discipline).
Infomation for beginners
The event is aimed at beginners and we expect over 80% of the field will be taking on their first triathlon. All you need is a swimming costume or trunks, goggles (not compulsory), a bike (road or mountain bike as long as it is in roadworthy condition),a cycle helmet (compulsory) and a pair of trainers.
So go on give it a tri? You will be given full instructions before the event and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch, by email or social media.
The swim - 400m - 200m
To start the event you need to swim 8 or 16 lengths of indoor swimming pool (any stroke is fine) and then you make your way to the transition area and prepare for the bike ride.
The bike - 12K / 24KAfter completing the swim you will then jump on your bike for 12k or 24k around the local country lanes.
Once the bike has been completed you then return to transition for the run, this is 2.5k or 5K around the surrounding paths.
The individual triathlon
This is open to anyone over the age of 15 (on 31/12/20). You must complete all three disciplines with no outside assistance. Your time will be taken from when you start the swim to when you finish the run.
We are always in need of marshals on the course so if there are any partners or friends out there that are willing to help please get in touch with us and you will be rewarded with a Free entry to an event of your choice (this can be transferred to another person) and t-shirt. Telephone 07548 545946 or email@example.com
The centre has ample toilets, full changing facilities and showers. You will also be able to purchase light refreshments at the event.
Start times (between 8am and 11am)
Your exact start time will be determined by the swim time on your entry form. Please be as accurate as possible so that you will be swimming with people of similar ability with faster competitors setting off later in the day. If you are not sure at this point you can supply this nearer the date, we will send out a reminder 3 weeks before the event, if this isn't supplied at the point of entry.
The event will be held under the rules of the British Triathlon federation. As always, your bicycle must be in roadworthy condition and an approved cycle helmet must be worn.
Prizes will be awarded to first in each 10 year age category.
All competitors will receive a finishers t-shirt, which will have all competitors names printed on the rear (for those that enter no later than 3 weeks before the event)
