The Butcombe Trail Ultra 56 is an extension of the previous 50 mile route between six pubs in the Mendip hills, a designated area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). The route is mostly off road and takes in some beautiful running country and fantastic views as it criss-crosses the Mendips. It was devised as a walking trail many years ago and 2019 will be the fourth year that it's being run as a single day ultramarathon and the first year for the 56-miler.
The route requires self-navigation, but there will be marshals and extra course markings at key points, the trail is way marked along much of its length but this can be patchy.
All entrants must have run a marathon since the 1st January 2018, this doesn't need to have been in a formal race, it could have been a 26.2+ mile training run. You will not need to provide proof of this, we trust you to tell the truth.
There will be a minimum kit list that runners wil need to carry throughout the race.
There is a maximum time of 16 hours to complete the race.
There is also a 50 mile option - please visit the event website for details and sign-up link.
