The Winter Wobble 5 and 10 mile race

December 19th 2019 10:30am

Start/Finish: The Albion Public House Rowhedge Colchester CO5 7ES

The Race:

The race will follow the same route as our sister event The Summer Stumble, but this time in reverse, the route, not you.

Starting at Ye Olde Albion pub in Rowhedge the ten mile route takes you to The Black Buoy in Wivenhoe via The Colne Causeway and then back. The route is mainly along riverside trail paths with some paved areas and you'll be pleased to hear that it is as flat as a pancake.

The five mile runners will turnaround when they reach what we laughingly call the "water station" and return to the Albion. All runners will partake in a glass of mulled wine at the start  and then enjoy either a Snowball or a shot at our "water station". Those making it to the Black Buoy will then enjoy a further mulled drink at the Black Buoy before making there way back the way they came.

Your race is run on returning to Ye Olde Albion where you will receive an amazing medal and your final drink to sip on at a more leisurely pace.

It is worth noting that at the "water station" you may well be subject to a random surprise challenge, with forfeits for those not rising to the occasion, for a bit of added Xmas "spice”. Anyone failing the challenge will be subject to a forfeit of the organiser’s choice, in fact those who do are also possibly subject to taking a forfeit of the organiser’s choice, for no other reason than that we can.

A “dry” version is available for those who are designated drivers, teetotallers, still hungover from the office party or of a puritan streak.

Registration open from 9:30am

£25:00 for non-members.

All finishers will receive a medal.

There will be a participant’s baggage area at The Albion for the safe storage of belongings.

General entries are open until Monday 14th Decemeber with a maximum of 150 places available. This is a popular race so we advise early entry.

Although not a technical course we do recommend trail shoes if possible.
