Fambridge Yacht Haven Half Iron Triathlon

Sunday 8th June 2014

1.9km Swim / 90km Cycle / 18km Run

Race Start: 08:10am

Registration and collection of race numbers etc on Saturday 7th at North Fambridge Village Hall. Bike Racking takes place on race morning from 6:30am. Please allow plenty of time to rack your bike and set up as all athletes need to be at the swim start by 7:55am for the race briefing.

Deep water start in the tidal River Crouch. Wharf and pontoon provide perfect spots for spectators. Athletes will start at 8:10am and complete 2 loops of the course. Water safety marshals will be present with motorised boats and canoes. If you want to raise the attention of the marshals turn on your back and raise one arm in the air. Please note this is a tidal river and will be more challenging than a typical open water or pool swim. Wetsuits are compulsary. Swim cut-off strictly 9:20am.

The cycle course takes athletes out of North Fambridge and onto the quiet scenic roads of the Dengie Peninsula. Here you will pass through small towns and villages with traditional weatherboard homes, negotiate the Burnham Bends and experience a fast and flat course over the marshes. Athletes will complete 2 laps of the course.

The run course is situated around North Fambridge Village. Here spectators will have plenty of opportunity to enjoy the triathlon. A huge crowd of spectators lines the run course and provides plenty of support for the athletes. Athletes will start the run by heading out along the sea wall before turning inland to run through the village. Here you will see your fellow triathletes on the last part of the cycle. The run will then take athletes through open fields and past the aid station before returning to the transition and finish area. Surface is a mixture of paved roads & paths, trail, grass and gravel. A small section of the route will be run on public roads.
