In a groundbreaking initiative, Kenya is set to host its inaugural Tech Run, an event aimed at sparking technological advancements across the nation. This event, organized by Eldohub in partnership with the UK Kenya Tech Hub and the British High Commission, is scheduled to take place on December 1st and 2nd, 2025, in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County. The Tech Run seeks to enhance the region's status as a global athletics hub by leveraging Kenya's renowned long-distance running prowess alongside its burgeoning tech industry.
The Tech Run will feature two main events: a 10-kilometer Elite Athlete Run, showcasing top Kenyan athletes, and a 5-kilometer Tech Innovator Run, targeting tech professionals, startups, and investors. These races aim to celebrate the dynamic intersection of technology and endurance, highlighting the resilience and determination that are essential in both domains.
Fostering Innovation and Resilience
Accompanying the races, the Eldoret City Investors Forum will provide a vital platform for promoting tech-driven innovation. Magdalene Chepkemoi, the founder and CEO of Eldohub, emphasized the event's focus on integrating sports science into business and promoting resilience and mental health among entrepreneurs. She stated, "Kenya is celebrated for its long-distance running and tech innovation. Much like marathon running, building a successful business requires endurance, patience, and a long-term commitment."
Chepkemoi also highlighted that the forum will explore sustainable practices that drive economic growth and job creation, with a particular focus on benefiting youth and women across Kenya. "Our goal with the Tech Run and Investors Forum is to showcase how the perseverance of Kenyan athletes can inspire and transform our entrepreneurial landscape," she added.
Synergy Between Athletics and Entrepreneurship
Jack Tuwei, President of Athletics Kenya, noted that participants will engage in discussions that emphasize the importance of mental and physical resilience, which are crucial for overcoming entrepreneurial challenges. "The Tech Run for Eldoret City Investors Forum symbolizes the powerful synergy between athletic endurance and entrepreneurial spirit," Tuwei remarked.
EldoHub, known for offering STEM education, job matching, and digital work opportunities, also runs entrepreneurship development programs and incubates startups to help bring their ideas to life. As Kenya strives to lead in technology-driven solutions, the Tech Run will highlight the connection between business acumen and athletic excellence.
This event not only aims to celebrate Kenya's athletic and technological achievements but also to inspire a new generation of innovators and entrepreneurs. By merging the worlds of sports and technology, the Tech Run promises to be a catalyst for economic growth and innovation in the region.
